The play unfolds in New York apartments and intimate rooms, in scenes that already feel like real life: two men lingering over an after-dinner drink, a best friend stopping by for tea.
We don't build sets or recreate those rooms on a stage. We bring the actors and the play into the real thing.
A doorway becomes an entrance. Your sofa becomes part of the scene. A hallway, kitchen, or staircase can suddenly belong to the play. Little by little, the familiar room transforms into its own theatrical world. And maybe it becomes a little easier to see ourselves in these larger-than-life characters.
That's the particular magic of Present Company: we don't bring a theater into your home. We find the theater that's already there.
